This pleasant-faced spider puppet makes a great classroom learning / teaching tool and prop for the Anansi The Spider Adventures and other stories where spider is the main character. [Anansi is a mischievous spider who seems to get in trouble a lot, and his audiences always receive important moral lessons.]
Small and medium sized hands should have no trouble manipulating this puppet--which gives him a wiggly, funny presence / personality. Large hands or injured hands may struggle with the glove part; it stretches; however, too much stretching could tear it. The puppet is very soft, and his long, legs are jointed for posing. His expression is nice, not scary at all, which is good for youngsters.
Puppet play can help youngsters develop their imaginations and communication skills. This toy has much potential for teaching and for learning.
great puppet with friendly spider face February 8, 2009

I was looking for a spider puppet to use in my French classes for preschoolers and Kindergarten/first grade and was not disappointed by this friendly spider. His face is very kid appealing, not realistic, but that is not what I intended. You put your fingers in five of the eight legs; the others have stuffing in them. All the spider's legs stay flat, they are not curved like in the picture, unless you bend your five fingers (and the other three legs of the spider will stay flat). I use this puppet while sitting on the floor with little kids; the spider is on my knee or on the floor. The puppet's glove are made for women's hands or children's hands but a man's hand would probably not fit (also not a problem). All in all a nice puppet for a nice price! Other spider puppets I checked out were double the price and very realistic looking which could be too scary for little kids.

Great puppet to use with little ones. It is not scary but a friendly looking spider, so it does not scare the little ones. Seems well made and I am pleased with the purchase.
